All the Bright Places

Imahe
As I am writing this blog, I am scanning through my Belle De Jour Planner looking for some inspiration on what to write for this entry. April as it says is the month of being more creative. For me, it has been the month of thoughts and feelings.  I wanted to feel something. So I tried to feel something from books and movies. I've tried to read the book entitled, " Why we broke up " but to some reason I wasn't able to finish it. Were you able to feel this? That moment when you'd wish to read a certain book but you can't seem to finish it because you are caught up in a different emotion or feeling? The kind which that book can't seem to give you at the moment. So I tried to read the book entitled, " All the Bright Places " and it was what I needed. The love story of Finch and Violet caught me off guard. Finch and Violet met at the most unexpected place. Both of them were attempting to commit suicide. If it weren't for...

Summer Fever

Imahe
Summer is finally here! Since graduation day, I haven't had my share of that thing we call a summer escapade. I had work to do and this time, it's definitely full-time. I no longer have school works to attend to which gives me more time to focus on my work. A friend of mine already asked me if we could go on a trip from Cagayan de Oro to Butuan and possibly to Davao but I couldn't say yes since the month of May is approaching and we are currently preparing for the Make Your Own Havaianas 2015 event which will happen on May 7-10 at SM Cagayan de Oro City. It will be my second year with the MYOH team! ♥ As far as work is concerned, I'm happy and excited for the upcoming events and am happy with the workload. Though sometimes I feel sleepy and stressed, I am able to manage it through watching movies.  Most of the time, I choose to watch Filipino love stories on Youtube or watch the latest movies in the local movie theater. It's a stress reliever! ...

On Graduating as an Atenean

Imahe
This chapter has ended. I am now Russel Anne P. dela Peña, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Batch 2015. My four and a half years in college wouldn't be the same without the people who made all things happen.  (Crusader Yearbook Pictorials 2014) To the university:  Thank you for 8 years of Jesuit education. Even at a young age, Xavier has invested on encouraging us to strive and be more. We've achieved greatness as young as we are. What I wouldn't forget during my stay in grade school were our confession with Fr. Bob. His words were words that made me want to shed tears. I've felt the presence of the Lord through him. As a kid, I held on to those unshed tears as I did not want to appear weak but honestly, those were words that made my faith in God strong. That is why when I came back to the university for college and when Fr. Bob celebrates the mass, I feel and remember by grade ...

In God's Perfect Time

Imahe
I woke up at around 6pm and checked on my phone. There were messages from my classmates informing me that the grades are out and to check mine ASAP. In that moment, I felt anxious and afraid at the same time. For me, there was no more time for failure. Once is enough. I prayed to God, to Mama Mary, Papa Joseph, all the angels and saints to bless me with what I was asking and working hard for the past 6 months.  I didn't want to see my grades yet but I knew that I had to. I did not have a choice. I had to know. It is now official. I am graduating as a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy student of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan in the year 2015. I may have been delayed for one semester but I learned a lot from failing a year ago and all I can say is that failing was my turning point or my wake up call.  A year ago, well a lot of you might know that I faced a very challenging experience in my academic life. I have never failed in this area. I was us...
